Privacy
There are no accounts, no cookies, no ads and no third-party trackers on this site or in the app. This page says plainly what happens to your information — which is very little.
What never leaves your phone
Your location
"What's nearest to me" asks your browser for your position, works out the answer on your phone, and throws it away. It is never sent to us and never stored. Your phone will ask permission first, and saying no only turns off that one feature.
Your settings
Your language, which shortcuts you pinned, which bridges you want alerts for — all kept in your own browser's storage on your own device.
Your name, email or phone number
We never ask for them. When you order food or book a table, the message is composed on your phone and you send it yourself over WhatsApp or the phone — it goes to the business, not through us, and no payment details are ever involved.
What is counted
So we know which pages are worth keeping and what people can't find, the site counts visits. It does this without cookies and without any identifier that lasts.
Which page was opened, and at what hour
Aggregated as a plain count. Not tied to you.
A one-day, one-way visitor number
Your IP address and browser name are mixed together and put through a one-way hash with the date, and only the first part of the result is kept. It cannot be turned back into your IP address, and because the date is mixed in, tomorrow's number is different and unlinkable. It exists only so "80 visits" can be told apart from "80 visits by one person".
Your country, and whether you're on a phone
The country Cloudflare reports, and iPhone/Android/desktop from your browser's user agent. Country only — never a city, never a street.
What you searched for on the site
The words, and how many results came back — so we can add what's missing. Not tied to you.
Which site sent you here
The domain only, never the full link.
If you're reading right now
A page open in front of someone says hello every minute so the admin page can show how many people are on the site. Those rows are deleted after fifteen minutes.
Notifications
If you turn on alerts, your phone gives us an anonymous address to push to — issued by Apple, Google or Mozilla, not by us, and it identifies a browser, not a person. We store that address, which bridges and topics you ticked, and nothing else. Turning alerts off deletes it. The alerts themselves carry no personal information; the message text is fetched by your phone when it arrives.
Who else sees anything
Cloudflare
Serves the site and holds the database. Like every website host, it sees the requests as they pass through.
Maps and images
Map tiles come from OpenStreetMap and Esri, and property photos are shown from each agency's own website rather than copied. Loading those means your browser contacts them directly, as it would on any site.
Nobody else
Nothing is sold, shared or handed to advertisers. There are no advertising or analytics companies involved at all — the counting above is our own, on our own server.
Business listings and reviews
Business details come from public business data and from people on the island. Listings are free and nobody pays to be included. If you leave a review, the first name you type is shown publicly; anything you give us for contact is kept private and used only if the business disputes what you wrote. If a listing about you or your business is wrong, or you want it taken down, tell us and we will fix or remove it.
Children
This is a general-audience island information service. It is not directed at children and collects nothing that could identify one.
Asking us to delete something
There is no account and nothing stored that identifies you, so there is nothing personal to delete on request. If you sent us a message, left a review, or turned on alerts and want any of it removed, write to us and we will do it.
